What We've Been Up To....Emily (Tanner) Willis!

And the great influx of updates continues!  So fun :)  Remember, pre-registration ends TOMORROW at noon!  After that it's pay at the door, $35 per person, cash only!  Our next victim is Emily (Tanner) Willis!!

It’s crazy that it’s been ten years already, I’m definitely not old enough. Well after I graduated from Riverton I went to SLCC for a few semesters. After SLCC I attended BYU. In between school I started working at Riverton’s child care, where I still work today. It is so fun and takes a lot of patience. I also currently work at lifetime fitness and I teach swimming lessons in the summer. Work keeps me busy. Since I guess I wasn’t busy enough I started coaching volleyball at Riverton, and coached there for four years. I love volleyball so it didn’t even feel like work. While waiting for my prince charming I enjoyed being single, going to Hawaii, New York and Havaupai, river rafting, just trying to keep busy.

In 2008 I met my husband, Adam in our singles ward. He also went to Riverton, just graduated a different year. We were just good friends at the time. It wasn’t till the following year that we went on a few dates. It took awhile after that till we started dating seriously. He was very patient.  Then finally on December 29th 2010 we got married. I did have to look past the fact that he is a huge U fan, but I still love him. He will graduate from the U and then attend Physical Therapy school, so we’ll just wait to see where we end up. But for now we live in a basement apartment in Riverton, and enjoy being out doors and being with friends and family. I loved going to Riverton and had a lot of great memories, but hope the next ten years go by a little slower!

What We've Been Up To....Jennica Jensen & Corben Wilcox!

I told you, I am a machine tonight!  Two updates in like 10 minutes.  Our next one is another pair of lovebirds from high school who are still together...Jennica Jensen & Corben Wilcox!

A decade down is both exciting and scary to me! So much has gone on and yet there is so much left to do that is still on my list…  I was college bound after RHS and earned dual bachelors in communication from Southern Utah University. I made the most out of my college time participating in the study abroad program and living in India for a while, an internship in Las Vegas, I was appointed Broadcasting Club President and I did this all while graduating on the Dean’s List.  I am now a financing manager at Remax Associates Real Estate. Corben has spent the last decade becoming a master of all trades including tile, paint, cement and finish work. All of which will come in handy when he achieves his goal and builds his own home. He recently made the leap out of construction and is working his way up the managerial ladder at Winco Foods.  We have gone to school since 7th grade at Oquirrh Hills Middle. But it was not until Junior Year that we started dating…little did we know homecoming and prom would lead to TWELVE years of dating! And yet we still have not tied the knot. We did welcome a baby girl into this world on 11-11-11 named Nola and she has struck a new love cord in our relationship. We are now at least “thinking” about the ball and chain.

What We've Been Up To...Tana (Coombs) Alsop!

We are so excited to see you all tomorrow night at our family picnic then Saturday at our main event!  I need to cram a few more updates in between now and then so here you go!  Tana (Coombs) Alsop!

10 years, oh my goodness how time flies!! Having to move 2 months before graduation and not being able to graduate with all my fellow classmates was not easy, and I wish I could have been able to find away to stay BUT thats how it goes. I moved with my family to the little town of Delta, Utah where everyone knows everyone. I got a job working at a local grocery store as a cashier and then moved to the freight crew (grew some muscles i tell you) I enjoyed it and loved working with people, little did I know that two of my co-workers were going to be my future in-laws. Their son (Cody) worked at the other grocery store there in town, to me he was just some guy who I really didn't know or really cared too and to him I was the strange girl with bleached blonde hair and glasses. I lived in Delta until 2004 and then I decided to go out and see the world!! So...I moved to St. George (thats as far as I could make it LOL) I moved in with some friends who were from Delta and I got a job working at Smith's Grocery. I was just enjoying life and doing my own thing. One night my roommates were having a BBQ and had some people over and one of their guests was Cody. We still didn't really care for each other but being friendly we started talking, and a month later we started dating.
2005 was a big year for me and Cody, we were married and were blessed with our beautiful daughter Kinley. I worked up until the day Kinley was born and then became a stay at home mom (which i enjoy) Cody worked as a framer for a while, he also did asphalt but then moved into construction running heavy equipment which he enjoys and is really good at. I tell him every day how much I love him for working out in the triple digit heat (we are still in the St George area) during the summer so I can stay home in a nice central air house!! :) In 2010 we were blessed with our handsome boy Sylis who makes our life even more fun and exciting. Life is good and happy. I wish I could make it to the reunion and see all the familiar faces but I will have to try for another time!! Happy 10 years to our class!!

What We've Been Up To....Michelle (Taylor) Campbell!

Today's classmate update is....Michelle (Taylor) Campbell!  Read on to find out all the cool stuff she has been up to!

I can’t believe the reunion is this weekend! Yikes! I've been having so much fun reading the updates on this blog and I can't WAIT to catch up with everyone in person.
After graduation I went to Utah State. I lasted two years before I realized I could not handle another Logan Winter, so I transferred to the University of Utah and started working at a Residential Treatment Center with Teenage girls – I really loved it and made plans to become a therapist.
While at the U I also met Trevor Campbell, a BYU graduate from Boise, Idaho with a degree in film production, a talent for growing facial hair, and a passion for Film.   We married after I graduated and moved to Boise where I got a job admitting people into Idaho’s substance abuse treatment funding program.  I have so much respect for people who work in social work their entire lives because six months after graduating with a psychology degree, I was already completely burnt out.
Luckily, an opportunity for Trevor to work in his field as a media librarian for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition popped up.  We dropped everything and moved to LA.  I took a temp job taking lunch orders for the senior staff at EM:HE, and while there fell in love with production and convinced them to let me stick around. I have been working steadily in unscripted television ever since.
I’m currently a story producer for a new doc-style MTV series and Trevor is working as an editor for an IFC beard competition show.  It’s very intense and seriously unglamorous, but luckily it’s also very/seriously fun.   We are also the happy parents of our four-year-old mutt, Forsberg.
Can't wait to see y'all!

What We've Been Up To....Tom and Stephanie (Larson) Colligan!

Can I just say, I love ALL of these updates.  But my absolute favorites are the double updates.  That's right, our "High School Sweethearts," and while these two didn't necessarily date in high school, everyone but them knew where they would end up :)  Here's Tom and Stephanie (Larson) Colligan!

Hello Everyone!  We are excited for our reunion and hope to see a lot of old friends there! After graduating RHS, Tom and I both went to Utah State where Tom  majored in Accounting and I majored in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. Tom took a two year break from 2003-2005 to go on a mission to Calgary, Alberta, Canada and came back saying 'Eh' every other word. Seriously. He told me before he left that I should get married, but I didn't listen and was still happily single when he got back. We got married in December of 2005 and plan on staying that way for a long, long time. :)  I graduated in 2006 with my teaching degree and taught kindergarten for two years at River Heights Elementary. Tom got his Bachelor's in 2007, but decided to stick around another few semesters and graduate with his Master's in 2008. We then moved down from Logan for Tom to work at an accounting firm in Salt Lake, where he works as a CPA in auditing. I started teaching first grade for a few months, but then decided to be done when our little lady was born at the end of 2008. She is 3 now, calls herself Rapunzel because of her super long hair, and is very excited for preschool to start. Our son was born in 2011 at 9.5 lbs so we are counting on him to provide our retirement through the NFL. Tom was pretty sure growing up that he was going to be in the NBA, but when he stopped growing a few feet short of that plan, we had to have our son as back-up. We'll let you know how that goes, but of course you could just watch ESPN if that's easier. We are looking forward to this weekend. See you all soon!

What We've Been Up To....Jessica (Wolfley) Farnsworth!

Two in 24 hours, look at me go!  :)  With the reunion fast approaching, I thought we better get crackin' on the updates.  Our next classmate is....Jessica (Wolfley) Farnsworth!

Okay here's my update! I know, it's soooo exciting

The first four years after graduating weren't too exciting for me. I attended Utah State University for a year and a half, transferred to UVSC and got my Associates degree in English. I worked for SOS temp agency, Cinemark movie theater at Jordan Landing and for my dad at his landscaping business. 2005 is when things in life started getting really good! I met my husband, Jeremy, while I was on a blind date with someone else. Unfortunately for my date, I fell head over heels for Jeremy. A month later he took me out on our first date (just two days after I gave a talk for my mission farewell) and it was downhill from there. We got married a year later on February 15, 2007. I attended the U of U for a year, taking classes to prepare me for the art program. In 2008 we had our first baby girl, in 2009 we bought our first home, in 2010 we had our first baby boy and in 2011 we had our second baby boy. I get to stay at home with our cute kids and my husband works for Spillman Technologies-a law enforcement software company. We currently live in Eagle Mountain and love it out here. Life is crazy busy for us, but we are absolutely loving every second of it! Our goals in life right now are to go camping more often, spend lots of time with our kids, own a home with more than .01 acres and retire on a houseboat in Lake Powell.

What We've Been Up To...Brandon & Danielle (Burrell) Clark!

This week we have another pair of lovebirds who met at good old RHS...Brandon Clark and his beautiful wife, Danielle (Burrell) Clark!

I can't believe ten years have passed since graduating from RHS!! Brandon and I met in Mr. Taggart's biology class where I shamelessly flirted with him. (With Brandon, not Mr. Taggart.) We got hitched in June 2004 and we live in Riverton. We love living in Utah and enjoying it's beautiful landscape. We enjoy canyoneering, hiking, fishing and basically any outdoor adventure. I earned my degree in architecture from the U of U and work at a local firm in SLC. I love my job and am working on becoming a licensed architect. Brandon works for UDOT as an electronic specialist. We are loving life with our adorable little girl, Alexa Jade who is almost one year old. Life is good and we are excited to reminisce with everyone at the reunion next weekend!

Until next time...on "What We've Been Up To!"  :)

Reunion Attire

We have had a few questions about the "dress code" for the reunion.  FYI, Friday night is totally casual, wear what you want.  Saturday night is business casual or semi-formal, whichever you are most comfortable in!  See everyone soon :)

What We've Been Up To....Eric Neff!

It seems like it has been a while since we have posted one of these, so here you go!  For your reading enjoyment, here is what Eric Neff has been doing the last 10 years :)

"After graduating from RHS I did 2 semesters at the University of Utah while I figured out what I wanted to study and prepared to serve a LDS mission. I served in the Korea Pusan mission from 2003-2005 and upon my return experienced culture shock. I used the next six months to acclimate to my "foreign" surroundings through attending the University of Utah and joining the Salt Lake Institute Concert Choir. Luckily, I met the best thing to happen to my life after I had re-adjusted to "normal" life. I met Skylee in the Institute Choir up at the U. She sat next to me because she thought I was the cutest boy in the choir and who was I to argue. We started dating in February, we were engaged in April and married in July of 2006. My life has never been happier.

We moved to downtown Salt Lake while we both finished our Bachelors Degrees. I majored in Mass Communications while Skylee majored in Communication Science and Disorders. We both graduated from the University of Utah in 2008. I got a job as a web developer in Lehi, so we moved to Riverton. Skylee went on to get her Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology (I earned at least half of that degree) and we had our first baby, a boy. That fall Skylee began working as a Speech Language Pathologist.

We kept on working and saving and were able to buy a house in Herriman. Unfortunately during the whole home buying process I tore my ACL and we found out we were going to have a baby girl. "All's well that ends well" and now my ACL is fixed, we love our baby girl, and we our happy to have a home to call our own. When we have free time we enjoy singing around the piano, attending University of Utah sporting events, spending time as a family and with extended family, and working on projects around the house. I am looking forward to catching up with old friends. See you all soon."

What We've Been Up To...Emily (Warnock) Goldman!

Reunion time is almost here!  A little over a month :)  I better start losing weight.  Or maybe try one of those feeding tubes all the brides are using...hmmm.  Anyway, we have another victim on "What We've Been Up To!"  It's Emily (Warnock) Goldman!

I attended Utah State University for four years (best school in the state, BTW) before heading south for four years at the University of Utah pharmacy program (that school is okay, I guess). While I was hanging out there learning about drugs and stuff, I met Michael Goldman (he prefers to be called G Money Funky Fresh) and we fell madly in love. Then he broke up with me and I was just plain mad. But "we" figured it out and have now been married for 2 years and 50 weeks. (I'm trying really hard not to forget our anniversary this year.)
I have been working at the Lehi Macey's (your family grocery store) for almost two years now handing out drugs while Michael spends his time messing with the computers at UTA. (Did I mention he went to BYU? I don't know about that school...) Between the two of us, we have seen a large percentage of the "really smart" things people can do to themselves.
Speaking of which--I can guarantee I will not be the skinniest person at this reunion but I will get two servings of dessert. We are expecting our first child (a girl) on June 28th. We are super excited. (And terrified but don't tell anyone.)

See you soon!

PS. This crazy picture is from our trip to Hawaii last November. Try not to be jealous.

What We've Been Up To--Heather (Dunn) Oxborrow!

It's so great to have these updates in my queue ready to post!  I hope everyone is loving them as much as me.  And remember...only 3 more days to get the early-bird pricing for the reunion, so register now!

Today's alumni is....Heather (Dunn) Oxborrow!

At times it doesn't seem like 10 years since high school but then I think of all the things that have changed or happened and it does seem like quite awhile. The fall after graduation I moved to Idaho to attend BYU-Idaho. I didn't end up knowing more than a handful of people but it was a great experience and helped me to become more independent. In the spring of 2004 I graduated with an associate's in Architectural Design and transferred to BYU in the fall of the same year to finish my bachelor degree. That same fall I met Graham Oxborrow who later became my best friend and husband. We were friends and then dated and almost 2 years after we met we were married the summer of 2006. I worked for Ivory Homes as an Architectural Designer for a couple of years and then a design firm in Salt Lake City called Method Studio for a couple of years. I am not currently working full time but do teach a night class at LDS Business College, Computer Design for the Interior Design department. One day I hope to have my own design consulting business. At times I miss doing design all the time but I have fun doing projects in our home in Lehi. My husband is always wary when I start a conversation by saying, "So I was watching HGTV . . . " or "I saw this cool thing on Pinterest . . ." I love design and love being involved in creating things but my greatest accomplishments come from being a mother to my two wonderful boys! Our family loves to do things together from being outside, camping or hiking, to attending sporting events (BYU football and basketball are our favorites!). Probably the most interesting thing that we have experienced is when I didn't make it to the hospital for the birth of our second son last fall. If you want the whole story you will have to come find me at the reunion. It will be great to catch up and see old familiar faces!

What We've Been Up To...Kara (Allred) Andrus!

As the reunion really starts to fill up, I am loving these updates that keep rolling in!  Our next one...Kara (Allred) Andrus!

After graduating I headed up to USU for college. I'd planned to major in Theatre Education. A year later I switched to History Education, and a year later went to Accounting. After 3 years I had a lot of various credits and no degree lol.
But back to the start- I met my husband Nate my very first day up there, I just didn't know it yet. He was my roommate's sister's boyfriend's roommate/friend and came over to help my roommate set up her computer. I paid no attention but after he left my roommate told me he had said I was cute and she'd given him our number. After a couple months of him losing our number over and over I finally took things into my own hands, went to where he worked, and asked him when we were going to go out. It went pretty quickly after that. First date in October, engaged in February, and married in the Idaho Falls Temple July 18, 2003. A beautiful sunny perfect day.
We both continued to go to school and work. September 27, 2004 we welcomed our first son Jason into the family. A few years later Nate graduated with a degree in Computer Science and got a job in Pocatello, ID. We moved up there 2 weeks after our second son Jacob was born June 1, 2006. We bought our first house and I started doing in-home childcare to help out. Even though we loved being in Idaho, the job opportunities are better around SLC, so New Year's Day 2008 Nate accepted a job down here and in 2 weeks we were back in Utah. We spent 2 long months living with my family in Riverton before the house in ID sold and we were able to buy a new home in West Jordan. A few days before moving into our new home we found out we were expecting baby #3. Another boy, Nathan, joined us November 13, 2008.
Life went on, I continued doing in home child care part-time and enjoying my little boys. I also prepared to go back to school at SLCC to work towards an associates degree in Computer Information Systems, which I surprisingly love and have no plans of changing this time. I started Fall of 2010 at the same time we found out that baby #4 we were expecting was actually babies #4 and #5! Our twin boys (yep, all boys!), Isaac and Caleb, were born big and healthy January 10, 2011.
Life continues to go by so quickly I can hardly keep up, but I'm loving it. My boys are now 7, 5, 3, and the twins are 1. They keep me busy but bring us so much joy. Nate has a great job that supports us so I can stay home with my children. I'm still in school part-time, slowly working towards my degree. I live a pretty normal, quiet life but I wouldn't want it any other way.

What We've Been Up To--Rachael (Nielsen) Homer!

And another update!  I know, look at me, 2 in one week.  If only I could take the credit for writing them.  I just bug people until they cough them up....anyway, our update today is.... Rachael (Nielsen) Homer!

I have absolutely LOVED reading about what is going on in everybodys lives! Everyone seems so mature and established and grown up, what the heck happened to me? I feel like the same girl... blond and clueless :)

So here's my life in a nutshell. I went to UVSC for a year with my best friends, and gave that up to do the next most logical thing- work construction, framing LDS chapels in Arizona. After working on my muscles and tan, I came back to Utah to be an EFY councilor at BYU. The week before I started that job I went to a "Hot Singles" dance, because I was so hot (yeah right), and so single (that's true). That's when my 6'7 dream danced into my life. We both couldn't dance, which is probably why we hit things off so well.

2 engagements, and about 15 break-ups later Jon Homer and I were hitched! We were married July 2005, and I could not be happier. We both worked to put Jon through school, then I went back to try to figure out what I wanted to be when I grow up. I got as far as my associates, (still not knowing what I want to be) and have stopped for the time being to do what I love most, being a mom. At our Senior Dinner Dance I was awarded "Most Likely to Have 20 Kids", which I have taken most seriously and I'm a fifth of the way there. Our last baby was actually just born March 30th.

My husband works like a madman, and I stay home and become a little more crazy every day. I work 2 part-time jobs doing things I love. I am a caregiver to people with special needs, and make jewelry on the side. I have big plans to travel to Lagoon this summer, and maybe if I'm lucky I'll be visiting Mickey Mouse the summer following. :) I feel so blessed and truly could not be happier. It's been so fun thinking about "the good ol' days" and I can't wait to see old friends!

What We've Been Up To--Kateka (Jeppson) Goodman!

It feels like it has been a while since we have had a classmate update, so here we go...Our victim today is Kateka (Jeppson) Goodman!

Hmmm…. As I stare blankly at my cursor trying to figure out what to write since I’ve graduated high school I feel like anything I could say might come off as braggy, or lackluster.

Let’s see, I am a CEO, have one billion dollars, spend my weekends in Hawaii, have never looked hotter in my life, and have no imperfections. HA! Obviously, I am kidding. Now anything I say won’t seem like I am bragging right? I can’t vouch for any of the things I just listed, so yeah, my life is certainly not brag-worthy. Don’t get me wrong, life has not been bad and for that I feel thankful and blessed, but I have not graduated college yet, I have no pets or babies, and I work 40 hours a week on my tush at a desk job. So let’s get to the good stuff before I put you to sleep!

When I was 18, I was attending college at Utah State in Logan and one day received a random letter from an unknown boy, Stuart, who was serving a mission in Texas with fellow RHS alumni Jeron Hyatt. I thought he was freaking hot so we became pen-pals and wrote for pretty much the entire length of his mission. He came home to SLC in 2004, things clicked, I moved from Logan back to SLC to be closer to him, and we married in August of 2006.

This was our engagement picture. Sigh, back in a time where we were both cuter, younger, and skinnier.

It’s blowing my mind that I’ve known him for 9 years… time is going by too quickly. We moved around from apartment to apartment until finally buying our first townhome in 2010 in South Jordan. At first I thought we had so much space, and now I feel like I need a bigger place. Ha! I am never satisfied.

Stuart is finishing up his business degree at the U which, holy smokes (!), is burning a major hole in our wallet so once he is done with his degree, I’ll go back to school and finish up my degree in exercise science. Unfortunately, we don’t have the finances to pay for both of our educations at once, so unless someone wants to pay for my degree (takers? Anyone?), I will start up again in about a year and then probably have another two years until I graduate.

What else, what else. I feel like this is boring… Ummm… I won the Miss Herriman pageant in 2003 and competed in Miss Utah in 2004, which I did not win, but very much enjoyed the experience (even though I really don’t consider myself to be a “pageant” girl). I ran a marathon when I was 19 and never ran another race after that! Ha! Take that 26.2 miles! I’ll probably never run another marathon again, but I am highly interested in running the Disneyland half marathon over labor day, and competing in a triathlon sometime in my life.

Stu and I love a good weekend in Vegas and seeing the shows there (get your mind out of the gutter, not “those” shows), my favorite being La Reve, so we frequent there as often as we can.

Recently, you can find me hobbling around on crutches because I broke my foot falling down my stairs! I am in a cast now and can’t walk on it for 5 weeks and 6 days, you better believe I am counting down.

Anyway, I think that will do it! That’s what I’ve been up to for the last ten years. Oh! And just dreaming for the day that we get to have our ten year reunion so that I can see all your beautiful faces again (facebook just doesn’t do it for me!). I really hope you’ll all come. I am very excited about it and think it will be a blast. Seriously! Every single one of you. Sign up. You won’t regret it. I’ll leave with you a more recent picture of me and the best thing in my life.

Want to have the reunion at RHS? Register now!

You've voiced your concerns and we have heard you.  Many of you have expressed your disappointment in the location change.  As you know, RHS has pulled out all these extra charges that we don't have the money in our budget to pay, unless we get a large turnout.  We don't want to pay for this out of our own pocket, but if we can get 50 people registered by April 5th, then we will have adequate money to justify moving the reunion back to RHS....not to mention the early bird discount ends April 16th anyway and then the price goes up (go to the reunion information page, above, for additional info on price).

Thanks!

After-Party Announcement!

Since we are having the reunion at a government-owned site, there is NO ALCOHOL allowed on the premises.  SO, we have decided to have an informal After Party at Keys on Main in downtown SLC beginning at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday June 9th.

So, if you don't want the party to end, follow us downtown for more fun :)  But PLEASE come to the main event first, as this is where we will be sure to see most of our classmates!

Also, everyone is invited to the afterparty, whether you choose to drink or not.  Keys has some great non-alcoholic drinks, as well as food and really fun dueling pianos for entertainment.

Thanks!

Important Info!!! Change of Venue!

Hey everyone!  So, after hidden fees (which we didn't want to have to pass on to you guys) started popping up at Riverton High, we have switched our venue for Saturday night to the Riverton Community Center Auditorium.  The address is 12840 S. Redwood Road, if you aren't familiar with it.  Everything else has stayed the same!  Gracias :)

What We've Been Up To! Chad and Kina (Lambert) Anderson

Our next contestant on "What We've Been Up To!" is a double whammy!  We get to hear from Chad and Kina (Lambert) Anderson.  Here we go...
How to sum up 10 years in 3 minutes??? Well, I guess the best place to start is by actually going back 12 years to my sophomore year of high school when one of my friends “officially” introduced me to my now husband, Chad, during Swing Club. Yes, I married my high school sweetheart, and even now after 8 years of marriage, I still consider him my “little” Sweetie-pie.

Of course we’ve done more than just get married! Chad served an LDS mission in Tempe, Arizona while I earned Bachelor’s Degrees in English and Technical Writing from UVSC (yes, it was still UVSC). Our sweet little girl, Charlotte, didn’t come into our family until our 6th year of marriage, so we fit in lots of four wheeling, camping, SCBUA diving and traveling. We’re pretty much cruise junkies and are already planning another trip to Europe next year.

Chad volunteers on the Search & Rescue Dive Team, and will have his Master Diver and Instructor’s License this year. He still plays basketball several nights a week and owns several businesses including a couple Great Clips salons, a property management company, and a commercial real estate company. I’m currently working as a Software Engineer for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. How I went from being an English major to a computer person is a very long story, so I’ll spare you the details!

Since we both call Riverton High School our Alma Mater, we’re getting pretty excited to see everyone again. There are a lot of people who we’ve lost touch with over the years that we can’t wait to reconnect with. Thanks ahead of time to the super awesome committee for putting this together!!!
--Chad and Kina (Lambert) Anderson

Thanks Chad and Kina!  We'll see you all next time!

What We've Been Up To: Amy (Hansen) Shepherd

I'm getting so excited as you all have started registering.  A lot of memories are coming back.  But my favorite thing are these 10 year updates.  Our next one?  Amy (Hansen) Shepherd!

Amy writes:

Well it certainly hasn't felt like a decade, I can tell you that much. I still feel like a silly teenage wimp most often who has been tossed into the wilds of the world with little instruction. When asked my age I nearly reply 'eighteen' every time before double checking and falling into the realization that I'm practically thirty. Just two years shy of it. How frightening!
I'd love to say I've accomplished a great deal in my time away from Riverton, like the profiles of others who have written about their decade, but in order to remain honest...I've done very uninteresting, normal things.
College, check.
Marriage, check.
Modest home in the country, check.
Kids, check.
Pets, car payments, budgets...check check check.
That New York Times bestseller has yet to fall into my lap, that perfectly toned physique doesn't seem to want to crawl out from beneath the layers of buildup created by carrying two children, no marathons have been won, no European excursion traveled...
And as boring and uneventful as that sounds; I am unendingly happy.
Someday this routine of bland happiness will change and when I'm yanked from quiet boredom and tossed into busy chaos, maybe I'll be whistling a different tune. Until then, I remain content with my beloved husband and two outrageously fun children in our wide open spaces.
Cheers to all my classmates,
Amy (Hansen) Shepherd

Thanks Amy!  Until next time on...."WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO!"

What We've Been Up To....Lindsey (Blackwood) Black

Hmpf.  Well, those who know who the main slave writer on this blog is know that I am not extremely pleased about this post, but I have been informed that cops are not allowed to taser people until they themselves have had the pleasure of being tasered.  I guess this is kind of like that.

Sooo, here we go.  What have I been up to?

Has it really been 10 years?  I recently switched my skin care from acne treatment to anti-aging.  That is when it really hit me.  Geez, we are old.  But it has been a fun ride so far.  If I can ever cure my schizophrenia and decide what to do with my life, things will get even better.  Seriously though, I have issues.  You'll see as you read on.

After RHS I went up to Utah State to study...uh, I can't actually remember what, but after about 7 official major changes, I finally graduated in Historical and Political Geography.  Yeah, it's a made-up degree.  Falls under "Interdisciplinary Studies."  So pretty much I still had no clue what I wanted to be.  Along the way, I met and married my hubs, Jay Black, and we finished school together up there.

What goes around always comes back around and so it seems as we built a house in Riverton and I began work for a Wastewater Treatment Plant equipment company.  Yep, that's what I finally did with my degree.  As fulfilling as it was, I decided to go back to school and got my Masters in Education in 2007.  I have since taught 6th grade, Title 1, Business at Salt Lake Community College, and currently own a preschool in Riverton, going on my 3rd year.  I also have a small but growing business doing what I love most, photography.  I am excited to be shooting my first weddings in the next few months, woohoo!  I hope I don't screw up too bad :)

I have 2 adorably cute chubblings:  Connor (4) and Abigail (19 months).  They keep me plenty busy.  I have a pretty awesome husband who works hard for our family as a Sr. IT Analyst at Questar, and overall, I have an always busy, sometimes challenging, always changing, but great life!  Sorry you all had to suffer through this post.  See y'all soon.

What We Have Been Up To: Sheena (Tucholski) Ballard

Our next sucker on What We Have Been Up To is....Sheena Ballard, formerly known as Sheena Tucholski :)  Here is what she had to say after I accosted her for this update:

My name is Sheena (Tucholski) Ballard.  In the last 10 years since graduating from High School I have managed to get married, have 3 beautiful children and start my own business.
I started by going to SLCC for a couple years then working at a Custom Furniture Shop and teaching dance on the side.  I worked at the Furniture shop for 4 years until I had my second child.  My first, Racheal, was born in 2004, my second, Arika, was born in 2006 and my third, Ashton, was born in 2010.  I have lived in Draper, Murray and now Eagle Mountain since being out of High School.  We try to do a couple vacations a year, depending on what we choose to take on with kids!  I love to run, workout, ride motorcycles, dance, and spend time with my family.  My favorite is probably taking our cruiser out for a ride whenever we can find the time to go out.  We love big dogs and currently have a Great Dane & St. Bernard.
I have worked as a dance instructor since high school at several local studios, which has led up to opening my own dance studio, out here in Eagle Mountain, UT.  Things have been crazy busy, but I absolutely love it.  I have also started a Charity with two of my very good friends called the Cupcake Charity.  We have formed our charity to help those in Eagle Mountain and surrounding areas.  We have raised money for Cancer patients, families in need, local elementary schools and our city.  It has been an amazing experience helping those in need that just can’t do it alone.  I am very passionate about teaching dance to those with Special Needs as well.  I have held events with the city for those with Special Needs, as well as offering dance classes for them at my studio.  I also teach a class with Stephanie (Childs) Hansen at her Studio in Herriman.
I absolutely love running!  It took me a long time to finally enjoy the sport, but now, I try to run everyday.  I have made many new friends running, and have definitely challenged myself in completing and placing in multiple races.
Things have definitely been busy, hard and exciting in the last 10 years.  I can say that I have grown from all my experiences, and look forward to the future.  I hope that in the next ten years I can keep growing, serving and following my dreams.  Then theres the many vacations I would like to take in the meantime as well!
 See you soon,
Sheena

First Edition of What We Have Been Up To!--Ashley and Matt Budd

Welcome to our first post in our "What we have been up to updates!"  We are going to be contacting people and asking you to participate once you have registered, so watch out!  No, really though, it's fun and I know I am so excited to find out what everyone has been doing these last 10 years.

Our first victims er guests are....Ashley (Webb) and Matt Budd!  Awww, high school sweethearts!  Here is what Ashley had to say:

Matt and I met our sophomore year in health class.  It wasn't exactly love at first sight, but we were really good friends.  After high school, friendship progressed to best friendship which progressed to dating.  And then, I broke up with him (I still get crap about that). He didn't give up and we remained friends.  Then I told him that, basically, he didn't have a chance (Again, I can't live this down). He took the hint and I was devastated that we weren't best friends anymore.  Next thing you know, it was me chasing him down after I realized that I didn't want to live without him.  So, to make a long story a bit shorter: after a series of break-ups and make-ups, we were married  August 4th, 2006.  I was the best thing we ever did.  Since then, we have had 2 boys (parker, 3, and Tommy, 1).  Parker loves superheros and ABCs and Tommy loves wrestling.  We live in West Valley.
I went to college at Utah State where I graduated with a degree in Physical Science Education.  I taught 2 years of chemistry before having my boys and now I work part time.  I teach a class on scientific research and organize the school and district-level science fairs.  Matt went to college just about everywhere, it seems.  He graduated in accounting and just earned his MBA.  He is currently studying to take the CPA exams.  Matt works in finance as the CFO for an internet retailer.
We love having adventures.  Our poor kids have been subjected to hours of watching us go rock climbing (Parker is the biggest scaredy cat, but I'm sure one day he'll pick it up).  I have a goal of one day actually being good at rock climbing.  We love camping and hiking and are currently training to climb Cotopaxi, the third highest active volcano in the world.  When not being adventurous, we spend what little free time we have hanging out with our families, eating cafe rio salads, and watching netflix.
Stay tuned for our next edition of "What We Have Been Up To!"  (Maybe I will have a better name for it by next time...no promises though.
